Born on 6th May 1947, DR GHANSHYAM DAS AGRAWAL received Bachelor degree in Dental Surgery in the year 1969, from University of Indore. He has Joined Government Hospital in the year 1970 and started his practice of dental surgery with near loan of Rs. 5000. After 25 years of govt. service he opted for voluntary retirement from Head of Department of Dentistry at Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal in the year 1995. He has over two decades of teaching experience at the Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal

Post retirement from Government service, he has setup an ultramodern Dental Clinic in Bhopal which is one of its kind in Madhya Pradesh to serve the community. Over the years he has kept abreast with what is state-of-the-art in modalities of treatment, besides equipment and materials through conferences, hand-on workshops and personal study.

In addition to his professional commitments he has been actively associated with social welfare activities, rural oral health awareness camps, anti-tobacco drives, free dental checkups, research, publication, academic works, Tv talks and Radio talks.

He dedicated his 44 years of life for oral cancer prevention, tobacco cessation and related diseases with the specific aim to prevent a pre malignant condition like oral sub mucous fibrosis. His patients are from poorest patient to the Heads of State. During this tenure he has treated more than 25 lakhs dental patients with devotion. Poor patients are treated by him for free. He devoted his life to serve the humanity for the betterment of society in the field of dentistry.

  • Served as Head of Dept of Dentistry at Gandhi Medical College till 1995.
  • Member of Madhya Pradesh Secondary Board of Education.
  • Authorised Medical Officer (Dentistry) to SBI, HUDCO, MPSIC, OPTEL, INDIAN AIRLINES, MPLUN and many other organisations .

  • ‘Dentist of the Year, 2015’ at the Indian Dentist Research & Review Golden Tooth awards organized by DENTISTRY 2015 at Bangalore on 15th August 2015.

  • Participated in more than 40 National & International Conferences.
  • Chairman, Dental health programme for school, 1987, and organized & successfully conducted School Dental Health & teachers training programme in Bhopal & surrounding areas. and had school dental check up for more than 1 lacs childern.
  • Co-investigator of ICMR research project on Bhopal Gas Tragedy for 5 years.
  • Attended national & international workshops for improvement of Dental education in the country.
  • Attended International Workshop for improvement of medical education held at Chennai.
  • Has been pursuing Ministry of Health , Govt of India, about prevention of dental diseases by framing a overall health policy in oral health and have concern about spreading dental diseases, oral cancer & marketing of sub standard products to be hazardous for dental health and also for ban on tobacco & pan masala prevention.
  • He has been instrumental in educating lacs of people about cancer preventive measures, common causes of cancer and warned against the bad habits of using tobacco, cigarettes, gutkhas etc and has saved life of over thousands of patients from oral cancer & oral diseases and also proper method of brushing.
  • He is member of Committee for National Workshop on review & update of BDS & MDS syllabus in Dental Council of India. And also for update dentist act 1948 committee.
